This is the second post in a two-part series about the secrets of homosexuality. If you haven’t read the first article, “The Dirty Secrets of Homosexuality Pt. 1: Promiscuity“, I would encourage you to do so. This article will touch on some common sexual practices in the homosexual community that are physically damaging to the people involved. I do want to warn you that some of these sexual practices are graphic but, I believe understanding is essential to a rational debate on the subject. With that warning, we move on to the subject of this article.

There are many common homosexual practices that endanger the well-being of those who practice homosexuality. In the previous post we looked at the Christian Research Institute’s article, “Is Homosexuality a Healthy Lifestyle?“. In that article CRI discusses many unhealthy sexual practices and they quote a well-known proctologist, Dr. Bernard J. Klamecki. This is some of what he had to say:

I know well the medical and surgical pathology directly related to the sexual practices typical of active homosexuals, particularly anal intercourse (sodomy) and oral intercourse (fellatio)…. Sexual practices typical of homosexuals can affect the oral cavities, lungs, penis, prostate, bladder, anus, perianal areas outside of the rectum, rectum, colon, vagina, uterus, pelvic area, brain, skin, blood, immune system, and other body systems…. While none of the following practices is unique to homosexuals, they are nonetheless typical…. Most common is anal intercourse (sodomy)

According to Dr. Klamecki the common homosexual experience affects the entire body and, the overwhelming effects are negative. He then goes on to discuss some specific practices that are a little disturbing:

Foreign objects are often used in order to produce a different erotic sensation or to instigate a more violent sexual activity (sadomasochism). Objects that I have removed from the rectum and lower bowel include corn cobs, light bulbs, vibrators, soda bottles, and varied wooden sticks.

It does not take a doctor to realize that using these types of objects to achieve sexual fulfillment can do serious damage to the body. My sister is a surgeon and, while working she had to extract a toy alligator head from a man’s anal cavity. This is not a minority of homosexual men using foreign objects, it is the majority. Dr. Kalmecki continues on:

Oral intercourse (fellatio) is when the tongue is used to lick or tickle the outlet of the rectum for sexual excitement, arousing, or foreplay. Needless to say, bacteria may contaminate and infect the mouth. One other sexual practice is ‘Water Sports,’ in which urinating into the mouth or rectum is used as a sexual stimulant. Physical damage to the rectum may occur because of some of these practices.

Both of these acts, along with the others, may not solely be homosexual activities but, they are prominent within the homosexual community. They are damaging and, they threaten the lives of those participating in these sexual practices. Dr. Kalmecki then goes on to give some serious health risks associated with common homosexual activity:

There is an antinatural activity being performed when the rectum is the recipient of a penis or foreign object. Because of this activity, cracking of the tissue (fissuring), open sores (ulcers), boils (abscesses), and other infections can occur in the skin of the surrounding tissues…. Persistent anal-rectal sexual activity can lead to various pre-cancerous lesions such as Bowen’s disease and Kaposi’s sarcoma. Whenever tissues are traumatized, cracked, or abraded, they are vulnerable to bacterial infection.

Tissue damage, ulcers, boils, and other infections are serious health risks associated with gay sex. Not only that Kalmecki says that “persistent anal-rectal sexual activity can lead to various pre-cancerous lesions”. This should concern, not only the people involved but, Christians as well. Homosexuality is not only a lifestyle choice…it is a damaging lifestyle that leads to death. If pre-cancerous lesions don’t raise your concern notice the stat that Dr. Kalmecki gives about AIDS:

Dr. Klamecki then continues, discussing the various bacterial diseases and viral diseases he regularly encounters with his homosexual patients — the most prominent being AIDS (the current figure is that 70 percent of Americans with AIDS are male homosexuals or bisexuals).

Dr. Kalmecki, and every medical professional I have read, agrees that promiscuous homosexual practice dramatically increases the chances of the homosexual contracting AIDS. He also points out that drug abuse is typical among homosexual men:

In addition, he asserts that up to 86 percent of homosexual males use various drugs to enhance and increase their sexual stimulation.

Almost 90% of homosexual men use some sort of drug so they can engage in their sexual activity. This is common place among homosexuals, in fact, while doing some research, I found an interesting article at Gawker.com written by a gay man named Brian Maylan. In Maylan’s article entitled, “The Secrets Gay Men Don’t Want Straight Men to Know”, he writes this about drug use among homosexuals:

For those who don’t know, poppers are an inhalant that is rather easy to come by in most adult book stores or gay leather shops. It’s amyl nitrite and it’s sold as ‘room deodorizer’ or ‘video head cleaner’ or some other preposterous bull**** like that. Homosexuals love this stuff. Well, not all of them, but a lot of them. Especially bottoms [the man whom's anal cavity is penetrated]! What it does is loosen up all the involuntary muscles (like in the throat and anus) so it’s so much easier to get large objects pushed into them. They also make you kind of dizzy and crazy and make every cell in your body scream, “I want to f*** right now” at the same time. They’re great. They also give me a headache and make me want to pass out. Whatever, that’s the price you pay.

Maylan’s comments support Dr. Kalmecki’s statement about common drug use among homosexuals. If one needs to use drugs so they can engage in their sexual practices, it is not healthy.

With these factors it is easy to see that the common homosexual lifestyle is not healthy. In fact, the average homosexual is in danger of serious physical harm and, we should all be concerned about their well-being. Even though promiscuity and these damaging sexual practices are rampant among the homosexual community, there is hope. We need to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these people because, they are not only in danger of losing their lives but, they are in danger of losing their souls. Thankfully, change is possible. Paul wrote these words about every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals, 10 thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. -1 Corinthians 6:9-11, NET

If you identify yourself as a homosexual, I pray that you will repent and turn to God for healing. If you are a Christian, I pray that you will have concern and love for those engaged in a homosexual lifestyle. No matter which one you are, or are not, change is possible and, change comes through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Thanks for reading.

The other day I was directed to an article posted by the Christian Research Institute (CRI). In 2009 they posted an article entitled “Is Homosexuality a Healthy Lifestyle?“. The article is disturbing but, it highlights some major problems with homosexuality.

Before I continue, I want to make it clear that I am not talking about this subject because I enjoy it. I discuss this topic simply because this subject has become the biggest social issue of our day. Just the other week President Obama gave, what many would call, a politically driven announcement supporting same-sex marriage. Many people have begun to speak up about their positions and, that creates a need for the Christian worldview to be heard. Now to the article.

The CRI article touched on two issues within the homosexual community. Those issues were promiscuity and sexual practices. This article will deal with the rampant promiscuity in the homosexual community.

Most of us would agree that promiscuity is unhealthy. It inflicts physical, emotional, and spiritual harm. Even if you do not agree with the spiritual aspect, you most likely agree with the first two. Well, if promiscuity is unhealthy then the common homosexual lifestyle we see today is extremely unhealthy. Check out some of the stats quoted in the CRI article:

Homosexualities, an official publication of The Institute for Sex Research founded by Alfred Kinsey, Alan Bell, and Martin Weinberg, reported that only ten percent of male homosexuals could be termed as ‘relatively monogamous’ or ‘relatively less promiscuous.’

Only 10% of homosexuals reported that they were sort of monogamous. That stat alone would be staggering, but wait, it gets much worse.

Additional findings showed that 60 percent of male homosexuals had more than 250 lifetime sexual partners, and 28 percent of male homosexuals had more than 1,000 lifetime sexual partners

60% of homosexual men had more than 250 sexual partners. Anyone with a working mind should be able to understand just how unhealthy this promiscuous lifestyle is. As if that wasn’t bad enough, 28% of homosexual men had over 1,000 sexual partners. Those are certainly not numbers that you will find on any news station discussing homosexuality.

Out.com is a website that writes about homosexuality. In an article entitled, “Monogamy Redefined”, Out interviewed two gay porn stars in a relationship. Read the words that Chris Porter said about his relationship with his partner:

We didn’t want monogamy. We knew that wouldn’t work. We’re both horny all of the time. We have rules. We don’t hook up with someone if we’re in the same city without the other one being involved. But if he’s out of town, I’ll hook up with someone. I’ll call and be like, ‘Is that OK?’ We’re honest and communicate.

There you go. They talk and communicate about the other people they sleep with so it’s OK. For the majority of homosexuals they don’t want monogamy and, the stats back this claim up. One huge problem with this promiscuity is that many people in the homosexual community don’t even know the people they are sleeping with. Let’s go back to the CRI article:

Another startling fact is that 79 percent admitted that more than half of their sexual partners were strangers.

When most of the people you are sleeping with are strangers, your chances of contracting an STD (sexually transmitted disease) dramatically goes up. In fact, the CRI article touches on this:

Just a few years after the publication of this report, Dr. William Foege, the director of the Centers for Disease Control, stated: ‘The average AIDS victim has had 60 different sexual partners in the past twelve months.’

When people engage in promiscuity their chances of contracting AIDS is extremely high shown by the stat above. It is obvious that promiscuity is not healthy and, the rampant promiscuity within the homosexual community is a dirty secret that needs to be known.

Thanks for reading.

I do not like to talk politics, and luckily, I wont in this post either. However, I do want to comment on the recent phenomena that is the Occupy Wall Street movement. In the grand scheme of things I think this movement will be relatively minor but, it is useful to highlight one important attitude that every person should have… gratitude.

The mantra of the Occupy Wall Street movement is, “We are the 99%”. The only problem is we, the middle class and the poor in America, are not the 99%. In fact, the “99%” in America are more wealthy than the majority of the world. Here is some information that you need to be aware of:

Recent World Bank data estimates the number of people living on under $1.25 a day at about 1.4 billion worldwide. 8 About half of Sub-Saharan Africans live on under $1.25 a day. 9 Many more live just above this line. Over 2.5 billion people live on less than $2 a day, with nearly three-quarters of the population of Sub-Saharan Africa falling into this category. 10 (Note: These figures are calculated for purchasing power parity (PPP), meaning that someone earning “$2 a day” does not literally earn this much but the equivalent of what 2 U.S. dollars could buy in the United States.11) -GiveWell.org

Over 3.9 billion people live on less than 2$ a day. That is a staggering statistic that makes the people occupying Wall Street look like the Monopoly man. When we lose perspective we lose reality and, in reality, the people on Wall Street have lost perspective. Many of the Occupy people have cell phones, computers, jobs, and places to sleep. How many in the world have half of those things? How many have all of them? Not a majority. This loss of worldwide perspective also leads to a lack of gratitude.

Gratitude and thankfulness is an essential component of living a healthy Christian life. Without it, we are truly lost. This is what the Bible says about gratitude and thankfulness:

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! -Psalm 107:1, ESV

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. -Colossians 3:15

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thessalonians 5:18

What the Occupy Wall Street movement has taught me is to never lose perspective, never lose a sense of reality, never stray from God’s Word, and never lose gratitude.

Thanks for reading.

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:1-10, ESV

This is one of the most amazing passages of Scripture. I was dead in my sin and, God gave me life. God is rich in mercy and love and, even though I engaged in acts that were against his command, he saved me. The God presented to us in Scripture is amazing and wonderful. I pray that you come to know him as I have!

Thanks for reading.

When I was in college, a friend introduced me to mewithoutYou. This band is truly weird. Their sound is not orthodox by any means but, I gave their music a chance and, I got hooked. The lyrics spoke to me in ways other artists didn’t. I was in a weird place in college. I started to take my faith seriously. As I did that I had to face my past sins and, my past sins taught me a lot.

I learned the greatness of God and, the weakness of me.

God is utterly holy and, I am utterly sinful.

God is the giver of life and, I was living in death.

God is light and, I was living in darkness.

I learned that the glory of God was of utmost importance. A line in the mewithoutYou song below has this lyric in it:

Oh, my G-d!

‘I do not exist,’ we faithfully insist
while watching sink the heavy ship of everything we knew
if ever you come near I’ll hold up high a mirror
Lord, I could never show you anything as beautiful as you

I was watching my past life sink in the abyss of forgiveness and, I realized that the most beautiful thing is God himself.

“If ever you come near, I’ll hold up high a mirror. Lord, I could never show you anything as beautiful as you.”

I pray that all that read this blog will realize that there is nothing more beautiful than our God.

Thanks for reading.

You probably read that title and said something like, “Wow! He must hate his mother!” Well, I don’t. I love my mother. She has taught me a lot about life. She has shown me love and, she has comforted me in times of pain. She is a passionate woman and a great mother but, this post isn’t about my mother. This post is about Mother’s Day and the tragedy that it has created.

I enjoy watching the Big Bang Theory. It is a funny show that often doesn’t agree with a Christian worldview but, there are moments that teach me lessons. One of those moments came while watching an episode where Sheldon tries to save his friendship with his roommate, Leonard, by making him re-sign the “roommate agreement“. While Leonard and Sheldon negotiate, Sheldon announces that when Leonard re-signs the agreement Leonard would have a day, once a year, where he would be celebrated. Sheldon calls it “Leonard’s Day”. Here is a YouTube clip of their exchange:

What is great about this clip is that it highlights the human condition. Leonard seems excited about having his own day but, when it comes right down to it, all the day means is that others are obligated to get Leonard a “crummy card”. For many, I fear, this is what Mother’s/Father’s Day has become. It is a day that is dedicated to our parent’s which is never a bad thing but, when it becomes an obligation we have abandoned Scripture.

Exodus 20:12 says:

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. -ESV

The honor that we are to give our parents is not an option. It is a command from God. The honor that we give to our parents should also be a daily occurrence. In the time of Exodus many societies were tough on the elderly. Often, the elderly had to provide for themselves. This left them with a huge burden because many could not work. God wanted to make sure that his people would not allow this mistreatment to continue among his chosen people thus, he said that they were to “honor” their parents. This understanding of “honor” is echoed by Jesus’ words in Mark 7: 9-13:

And he said to them, ‘You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! For Moses said, “Honor your father and your mother”; and, “Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.”

But you say, “If a man tells his father or his mother, Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban” (that is, given to God)—then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.’

The Jewish authorities instituted the Corban rule, which was supposed to help raise money for the temple but, Jesus completely destroys this by looking back to the words of Exodus. Honoring your father and mother is more than a once-a-year tradition; it is a life-long commitment. That is the tragedy of Mother’s day.

We see the same tragedy with Easter or Christmas. We also see the same tragedy every Sunday. People go to church on Sunday and live like rebels the rest of the week. That is not honor. That is not righteousness. That is foolish and, so is celebrating our parents but once a year.

Don’t take part in the modern-day tragedy of Mother’s Day, instead show your Mother and Father honor throughout your entire life.

Thanks for reading.

A few days ago I posted an article entitled, “Are You a Sheep?” The post focused on Jesus’ words found in John 10: 24-30. This post will also revolve around Jesus’ words in this text but, we will only be looking at verse 30. This is what Jesus says in John 10:30:

‘I and the Father are one.’ -ESV

Other religious groups dislike this passage of Scripture. Muslims cannot fathom the idea that God would ever become a man and, because of their presuppositions, they cannot accept Jesus’ words. Muslims believe that Jesus was a good teacher and a prophet sent by God. Muslims believe that Jesus did many of the miracles that we find in Scripture but, they reject his deity. The real question is, based on this passage, should they?

Muslims, and others, will say that Jesus never makes it clear that he is divine but, this passage of Scripture does not support that assertion. Notice how the Jews respond to Jesus’ words in verse 30:

31 The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, ‘I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?’ 33 The Jews answered him, ‘It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.’ -John 10: 31-33

The Jews pick up stones to kill Jesus and, Jesus asks them why they are upset. They accuse Jesus of blasphemy because, as it says in verse 33, Jesus made himself God. The Jews knew exactly what Jesus was saying. Jesus was placing himself on the same level as the Father and, according to the Old Testament, it was blasphemous for a mere man to say those words. In light of the Jews reaction the Muslim has to answer this question, “If Jesus wasn’t claiming deity, why did the Jews want to stone Jesus?” The Jews make it clear why they were going to stone Jesus. Jesus was claiming deity.

Unitarians also misuse this passage but for a different reason. Merriam-Webster gives a good definition of “Unitarian” as:

one who believes that the deity exists only in one person

Unitarians believe that God exists in one person and, on the surface Jesus’ words seem to reflect this. The Unitarian will often claim that Jesus is saying that he and the Father are one person but, is Jesus really saying that? I bet you can guess the answer.

In John 10:30 Jesus uses a plural verb. So, when Jesus says, “I and the Father are one,” the “are” is plural. The Greek word used is ἐσμεν (esmen) which is the plural form of εἰμί (eimi). The Greek word “eimi” is defined by the NAS Exhaustive Concordance as:

I exist, I am

The plural form of these words would be, “we exist, we are”. Unitarians teach that Jesus means, “I and the Father is one,” but, Jesus didn’t use a singular verb. Since the plural form of the verb is used a more accurate translation would be, “I and the Father, we are one.” Jesus is clearly stating that the Father and himself are both God yet, he makes a distinction between them. They are unified in deity but are different in personhood.

Jesus’ words are wonderful and amazing but, there will always be people attempting to twist his words to fit their views. When the Muslim, or anyone else, says that Jesus never spoke clearly about his deity, you can point them to Jesus’ words in John 10:30 and the Jew’s response that followed. When the Unitarian, or anyone else, denies the Trinity you can point them to Jesus’ use of the plural verb in verse 30.

Every Christian needs to be ready to answer every objection to the faith and, I pray this article will help you do that.

Thanks for reading.

Yesterday I got a haircut. I needed one badly because I was starting to look like a hobo. The gentleman cutting my hair was nice and funny. He was making jokes and the conversation was pleasant. I spoke about my job and my hobbies but, before turning the conversation to a spiritual topic, I noticed that he had a guitar tattoo. I asked him, “So, do you play the guitar?” He answered, “Yes,” and continued, “I have been playing for a while now.” I replied, “Do you play in a band?” At this point his demeanor changed a bit. Instead of being happy-go-lucky he seemed to draw back a little. He then said, “Yeah, but probably not the type of band you’re thinking of. I play in a worship band for my church.”

I was astonished to run into someone who was active in a church. I was eager to chat with him because of the common bond that, I assumed, we had. I went on to tell him that I was a youth minister for over 4 years and played bass in the church’s worship band. He told me that his experience at the church was great so far. Then he began to share some personal information. He said, “I used to live in Hutchinson with my wife and three kids. I moved out and now live with my girlfriend in her parent’s basement. We are hoping to move out of there soon so I can see my kids more.”

I was shell-shocked when I heard him say those words. I was expecting to have a Christ-centered conversation with this man and was now I was faced with a task that has always scared me. I have always found it difficult to tell people about Jesus when they think they know Jesus. There is often nothing I can say to make them see the truth because they are certain that they know it. We chatted a little more and the barber made it clear that he left his wife for his current girlfriend. This is what I call the “but” syndrome and it looks something like this:

“I’m a Christian but, I left my wife for another woman.”

“I’m a Christian but, loving my enemies is too hard.”

“I’m a Christian but, I sleep with my girlfriend/boyfriend.”

“I’m a Christian but, I get drunk every once in a while.”

“I’m a Christian but, I…”

All the while Jesus is saying:

‘If you love me, you will keep my commandments.’ -John 14:15, ESV

Don’t be a “but” Christian.

Thanks for reading.
