When the Alarm Clock Rings…

As I write this post I am just getting done with 39 hours of work in 3 days. It has been a long few days of work. Waking up in the morning can be tough when you are coming off a 15 hour day.

Today I took one of the group home guys to an event and saw other caretakers. I heard one of them on the phone saying, “I can’t believe I am hear right now.” This really annoyed me. Work isn’t always peaches and cream, but when I am at work I realize that it is a God-given opportunity to put my best foot forward. Colossians 3:23 says:

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,” -ESV

No matter what field you are in work as if you are working for God. When you do this it will spur you on to work hard. It will give you a new attitude towards work. You will start to enjoy work more. 15 hour work days are still 15 hour work days…but those 15 hours are worth the time when I know I am working for my King.

So, when that alarm clock rings you can work for men…or you can work for God.
